Lesson for 5/3/09

Sorry, I had to throw in a daddy's favorite moment!!!
Lesson Overview
Biblical Passage: Colossians 3:5–11
Supporting Passages: Ephesians 4:22–24; 5:3
Memory Verse: Colossians 3:5
Biblical Truth: When we are in Christ, we have the ability to put off the sins of the old life.
Context: Total transformation means that if we “walk in a manner worthy of the calling (we) have received” (Eph. 4:1), we cannot continue in the life we have known and its nature. Rather, total transformation means that we put to death the old life and put on the new, thus doing away with our former sinful habits.
Learning Goals:
Students will understand they are commanded to take off the habits of the old self and put on the habits of the new self.
Students will practice the skill of testing personal habits to determine which are of the old self and which express the new self.
